Love and Relationship Review
Delilah got Samson to sleep, lying in her lap. Then she called in a man to shave off the seven braids of Samson’s hair. In this way she began to make him weak [subdue him; make him vulnerable], and his strength left him. Then she said, “Samson, the Philistines are here!” He woke up and thought, “I’ll leave as I did before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him (Judges 16:19-20 EXB-).
Yesterday in my counselling class, seating a few seats from me was an absolutely amazing woman, highly intellectual, has had an amazing career in law but now just seats there, most times gazing into space, obviously very lost; all because of a matter of the heart and I can’t help but wonder how love can reduce a person to this.
Many have been duped and been heartbroken by people who were so careful to warm their way into their hearts and as I read the story of Samson again... I can't help but think "how so sad… how mighty men have fallen.... oh, how strong women have had their hearts chattered into pieces just because of where they decided to lay their head/heart".
Oh dear Samson... Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah... (Judges 16:4) who eventually made him physically blind. Perhaps, that's where they got the saying... ‘love is blind’. She kept bothering [nagged; pressed] Samson about his secret day after day until he felt he was going to die [his soul was annoyed to death]! So he told her everything [ALL HIS HEART]... (Judges 16:16-17 EXB-)
Samson eventually got to the point where he didn't want to live anymore (Judges 16:30) and I’m thinking, you can get many things right in life but if you get this one thing wrong, you could be done for.
When we talk of heartbreaks, there’s always a focus on men breaking women's hearts but one of the greatest stories ever told that’s recorded in the Bible is about a woman completely destroying a mighty man's life and destiny so this message is for all... both men and women... to be careful and choose wisely
Above all, there is a Love that never Fails, Irrespective of the Situations, Outcomes and what have you. "The Love of God was shared abroad for All. (Jesus Loves you) accept him, choose to be closer and he wll draw you nearer.
Love is Kind, Love is Pure and God is Love|
